LOGLINE

A neurologist’s childhood imaginary boyfriend returns with a body, a will, and dangerous jealousy—forcing him to discover whether the man he loves is supernatural, neurological, or somehow both.

SYNOPSIS

As a five-year-old boy grieving his father’s death, Phraphai created—or perhaps met—an imaginary companion named Klong. After moving away, Klong disappeared. Twenty-two years later, Phraphai is a neurologist living alone when Klong suddenly returns, no longer behaving like an imaginary friend: he can touch, leave marks, become jealous, and frighten other people. Their reunion grows into intimacy as Phraphai struggles to determine whether Klong is a ghost, hallucination, supernatural lover, or something rooted in his own damaged memory. The apparent haunting ultimately draws on Kleine–Levin Syndrome, epilepsy, childhood trauma, and shared consciousness, transforming paranormal romance into a medically grounded mystery about loneliness, grief, and the human need to be seen.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Patrick Rangsimant is a Thai neurologist and novelist whose fiction repeatedly challenges the boundary between supernatural experience and neurological reality. His medical background allows him to construct mysteries in which apparent ghosts, altered consciousness, and impossible memories gradually acquire new meanings through conditions affecting sleep, perception, and the brain. My Imaginary Boyfriend is an early example of this approach, combining BL romance with paranormal suspense, childhood trauma, Kleine–Levin Syndrome, and epilepsy. Patrick’s dual identity as physician and storyteller allows the novel to operate both as an emotionally intimate romance and as a mystery about whether love can survive when the mind itself cannot be fully trusted.
