LOGLINE
An alien sent to demolish Earth for an intergalactic highway postpones the apocalypse after discovering Thai home cooking—and slowly realizes that the planet’s greatest value cannot be calculated.
SYNOPSIS
Shun, an engineer for the Intergalactic Expressway Authority, arrives on Earth with a routine assignment: demolish the planet to clear space for a galactic highway. Then he tastes a humble Thai meal prepared by ChonDan, the owner of a small curry shop. One postponed apocalypse becomes another as Shun discovers home cooking, memory, companionship, and the strange emotional value of an otherwise insignificant planet. Structured around meals and the stories they carry, the novel combines cosmic bureaucracy, absurdist science fiction, Thai culinary culture, and emotional healing. Beneath its comic premise lies a deceptively serious question: if an advanced civilization can measure everything except the value of an ordinary life, what makes a world worth saving?

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
Patrick Rangsimant is a Thai neurologist and novelist whose fiction brings scientific ideas into accessible, emotionally driven genre storytelling. Although widely known for neuro-psychological thrillers, he also writes warm speculative fiction that explores attachment, empathy, grief, and human connection. The Last Meal Before the World Turns into a Galaxy Expressway demonstrates his range by combining science-fiction satire with Thai food culture and slice-of-life intimacy. Rather than treating the apocalypse as spectacle, Patrick uses meals and everyday companionship to ask what makes ordinary human existence valuable. The novel’s episodic culinary structure and high-concept premise have also made it especially adaptable for television and graphic storytelling.
