LOGLINE

Across an open grassland, life runs, rests, disappears, and returns, revealing nature as an endless rhythm of birth, death, silence, and renewal again.

SYNOPSIS

The prairie is presented not simply as a landscape but as a living rhythm of birth, movement, stillness, disappearance, and return. Animals run, drink, rest, grow, and eventually vanish as weather and seasons change around them. After darkness, wind, and rain, life begins again. With sparse poetic language and immersive illustrations, the book invites readers to observe nature without separating themselves from it. A meditative picture book about ecological interconnectedness, impermanence, life and death, silence, renewal, and the quiet beauty of belonging to a cycle larger than ourselves.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Woo Mi-jung is a Korean picture-book creator who discovered the possibilities of picture books while studying illustration at Kkokdu Illustration Institute. She enjoys finding unfamiliar details in familiar places, especially in nature, and aims to create visually engaging books through close observation and drawing. The Prairie was her first original picture book and established her distinctive restrained style: sparse language, broad visual spaces, and a calm gaze toward birth, survival, death, and renewal. Rather than sentimentalizing nature, Woo records its beauty and harshness with equal composure, inviting readers to reflect on their own lives within larger cycles of change.
