LOGLINE
War forces a bear family to flee without their ambulance-driver father, leaving the children to endure displacement while waiting and hoping for reunion.
SYNOPSIS
One peaceful morning, war suddenly reaches a bear family’s home. Bombing forces them to flee, while their father, who drives an ambulance, must remain behind. The mother and children travel from place to place in search of safety, coping with unfamiliar surroundings, frightening noises, separation, and the longing to return home. As Christmas and the new year approach, the children continue to wait for their father and hold onto the possibility of reunion. Told through a child’s perspective, this tender picture book explores war, displacement, trauma, family love, and hope.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
Mua is a Korean picture-book creator who enjoys transforming the children, neighbors, and familiar places encountered in everyday life through imagination, words, and pictures. Her first original picture book for children, Secret Friend, grew from her experience of passing through the COVID-19 pandemic with her daughter. She continues to explore children’s emotional worlds through animal characters and gently observed daily moments. In Daddy, When Will You Come?, Mua turns her attention to war and displacement, using a bear family to make the pain of separation accessible to young readers while preserving a child-centered sense of hope, endurance, and longing for reunion.
