LOGLINE

Jealous Wind battles the radiant Moon with all his force, only to discover that true beauty and quiet strength always return beyond control.

SYNOPSIS

Adapted from George MacDonald's classic poem, this atmospheric picture book stages a lyrical contest between the restless Wind and the serene Moon. Jealous of the Moon's beauty and high place in the night sky, the Wind blows with all his strength, convinced he can weaken and finally erase its light. Yet the Moon repeatedly returns, growing fuller and brighter despite every attack. Lee Ji-sook's expressive illustrations turn the poem's rhythm and movement into a visual meditation on persistence, humility, natural cycles, beauty, and the limits of force.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

George MacDonald was a nineteenth-century Scottish writer, poet, and pioneering author of fantasy whose work influenced generations of later writers. His poetry and fairy tales often combine nature, imagination, spirituality, and moral reflection. Lee Ji-sook is a Korean picture-book author and illustrator who creates visual adaptations of literary works as well as original picture books. She previously adapted and illustrated The Old Man and the Sea and aims to make books that quietly comfort readers. In The Wind and the Moon, Lee transforms MacDonald’s poem into a richly visual picture-book dialogue between force and serenity, preserving the poem’s rhythm while giving its natural imagery a new narrative life.
