A star farmer patiently nurtures magical seeds through darkness, storms, and meteors until they bloom into stars ready to illuminate the distant world.

SYNOPSIS

Somewhere in the night, the Star Papa grows stars from seeds. He crosses a river where stars sleep, planting each seed with sunlight, moonlight, and the Milky Way before drawing the darkness close so the stars can sprout and shine. Through wind, meteor storms, hardship, and patient care, a field of stars finally blooms. He then sends each star into the world to become a light for someone else. A luminous picture book about dreams, perseverance, hope, and the quiet care required to bring light from darkness.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Han Dam-hee is a Korean picture-book artist and illustrator who has long dreamed of creating books that immerse readers in imagination and emotion. Her illustrated works include The Gorilla Hair Salon, Doo-Doo, the Hundredth Sheep, An Elephant Got Stuck, and The Rules of the Game. With The Star Papa, she works as both writer and illustrator, transforming the patient labor of a farmer into a poetic metaphor for dreams, perseverance, and hope. Her warm visual storytelling and imaginative concepts have reached international audiences, and The Star Papa received the 2025 Bologna Ragazzi Award in the CrossMedia category.
