A young girl pans for gold with her siblings, imagining each tiny fleck as a star carrying food, medicine, education, dignity, and hope.

SYNOPSIS

A young girl in a small African village walks with her siblings to a distant river every day to pan for gold. To her, each tiny fleck of gold is a star carrying a precious wish: food for her family, medicine for a sick sibling, a pencil, or the chance for a brother to return to school. Although the work is exhausting and the landscape harsh, she keeps singing and searching. Even when she returns home empty-handed, she believes that tomorrow her own star will rise. A poetic story of resilience, dignity, family responsibility, and hope amid hardship.
