SYNOPSIS

Tuna is a stray cat who discovers, through the kindness of an elderly woman, that he possesses extraordinary abilities: he can walk on two legs and understand human language. When the woman moves to a nursing home, Tuna decides to become the special cat she always believed he could be and opens the Cat Detective Agency in her empty house. From finding a missing kitten to solving a fish-shop theft and confronting children who bully neighborhood cats, every case strengthens Tuna’s confidence and sense of purpose. Warm, humorous, and gently suspenseful, the story celebrates courage, empathy, community, kindness, and finding a place where no one has to feel alone.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Lee Seo-young is a Korean children’s author whose books include A Day with Cheese Cat, The Forest Ramen Shop Even Ghosts Love, The Spicy-Sweet Dictation Secret, The Legend of the Voodoo Doll, and The Cat Detective Agency. Her fiction combines humor, fantasy, animal characters, and the everyday emotional concerns of young readers. Yong-dal is a Korean picture-book creator and illustrator who studied art, design, and illustration before developing a career in children’s publishing. His works include The Magic Scissors and Demian. Together, Lee’s warm mystery storytelling and Yong-dal’s energetic drawings give the cat detective Tuna a distinctive world filled with neighborhood problems, eccentric clients, and gentle lessons about empathy and belonging.
