LOGLINE

Behind familiar sportswear and global brands lies a supply chain few consumers ever see: an investigation into how North Korean labor, sanctions evasion, and corporate opacity became stitched into the clothes sold around the world.

SYNOPSIS

Investigative journalist Kim Seung-jae traces the hidden supply chains through which North Korean labor entered the global apparel industry despite international sanctions. Drawing on insider testimony, leaked documents, photographs, and years of reporting across Korea and China, he follows garments allegedly produced by North Korean workers and routed through Chinese manufacturing networks before reaching major retailers and global brands. The investigation connects multinational apparel production, sports merchandise, South Korean home-shopping channels, sanctions enforcement, corporate accountability, and Pyongyang’s foreign-currency economy. Moving from individual factories to the structural blind spots of globalization, the book asks how easily origin, labor, and responsibility can disappear once products enter complex international supply chains.
