LOGLINE
Before Korean drama conquered global screens, ten unsung sales pioneers were already fighting for every buyer, meeting, and contract—this is the inside story of how they built the commercial infrastructure behind the Korean Wave.
SYNOPSIS
Long before Korean television became a global phenomenon, a small group of sales executives, licensing specialists, and market negotiators were taking Korean dramas, documentaries, animation, and formats into international markets where few buyers knew Korean content. Based on interviews with ten industry veterans from leading broadcasters and studios, Selling Korean Drama reconstructs the hidden business history behind the Korean Wave—from fax-era cold calls and Cannes market negotiations to format remakes, streaming platforms, and today’s global IP economy. The expanded edition combines oral history with practical industry insight, revealing how persistence, negotiation, localization, and market intelligence helped transform Korean television from an unlikely export into a worldwide cultural force.
