Uija is a Korean picture-book author and illustrator whose work combines quiet emotional observation with expressive watercolor imagery. The artist studied children’s literature and children’s book illustration at Goldsmiths, University of London, and has created books including The Farmer of the Desert, Face, and the Louis the Cat series, as well as an illustrated essay about living abroad. Uija’s work often explores perseverance, identity, solitude, and the search for meaning through spare text and strong visual rhythm. In Dance, the artist follows the voice and movement of a young girl to confront violence, mourning, remembrance, and the possibility of carrying grief toward solidarity and hope.
